Synopsis: Managing Performance


Target Audience

This two-day workshop is designed for people who have direct responsibility for managing the performance of others.

Aim This workshop aims to up-skill participants so they can provide appropriate leadership in order to effectively manage the performance of individuals.

Objectives By the end of the workshop participants will have had the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge which when applied enable them to:

1. Apply principles and methods to manage performance (high performers, performers, and non performers) effectively.
2. Differentiate between coaching needs and performance issues.
3. Plan for, and consider all possible outcomes prior to facilitating a coaching/performance management session.
4. Give effective feedback.
5. Understand how to receive feedback.
6. Practice skills to apply feedback cycle.
7. Set and coach staff to set business objectives that impact on the business.
8. Apply tools that can assist the performance management process.
9. Record information for the purpose of performance management.
10. Correctly apply standard disciplinary processes & poor performance procedures.
11. Understand the implications of the Privacy Act on keeping personnel records.
12. Apply the theory of Transactional Analysis as a tool to assist communication and handling conflict.
13. Facilitate a difficult interview with staff.
14. Handle poor performance and disciplinary issues with confidence.
15. Set expectations regarding behaviors and actions and follow up.
