Synopsis: Leadership Coaching With Attitude!
This workshop is designed for managers, supervisors and team
leaders responsible for staff and those people who wish to
develop/enhance the skills they need to provide leadership
and coaching for their staff.
The workshop aims to up-skill managers, supervisors and team
leaders so that they are able to competently lead and coach
their staff. In particular the aim is to provide participants
with the skills and knowledge required to identify coaching
needs, provide leadership and support and give appropriate
feedback on performance.
The Leadership Coaching workshop is a three-day workshop.
Days One & Two are facilitated consecutively, and Day
Three is facilitated approximately eight weeks later.
The workshop is facilitated to incorporate a series of questionnaires,
assignments and tools that ensure the workshop produces a
return on investment for the organization.
This course is tailored to include specific case studies,
scenarios and role-plays from the participants working environment.
This course includes the facilitation of a behavioral assessment
called the DISC Personal Profile. From this participants
receive a written profile giving them insights into their
behavioral style and how this impacts on others. The profile
assists participants develop personal action plans to improve
their communication.

All participants will have access to personal support and
coaching if required throughout this programme.
At the conclusion of Day One and Two of the workshop, participants
will be able to:
1. Explain the Leadership Coaching philosophy
2. Explain the importance of leadership and coaching in their
role as a manager
3. Explain the difference between leadership, management and
leadership coaching
4. Explain the link between leadership coaching and performance
management
5. Apply the leadership coaching process
6. Identify coaching needs
7. Give effective feedback and explain its importance
8. Apply skills to maintain effective working relationships
9. Understand the value of diversity and different values
10. Apply skills to improve their ability to listen and communicate
clearly
11. Manage high performing individuals and teams
12. Develop an action plan to practice their coaching skills
in the work environment
Before attending the workshop, participants are required
to:
- Identify a current issue and a team member who will benefit
from coaching through the issue
- Complete a pre-course questionnaire and set clear objectives
for the training. Return a copy of the pre-course questionnaire
to the trainer
- Facilitate a Leadership Coaching Skills Assessment questionnaire
with their team members (direct reports), peers and their
manager. This questionnaire is designed to solicit feedback
on the present level of leadership coaching exhibited by
that person. The questionnaire is confidential and upon
completion is sent directly to the trainer for scoring.
After completing the workshop the participants are expected
to:
- Immediately apply the knowledge gained on the workshop
to their working environments
- Complete all exercises in the course workbook
- Implement their own personal action plan for coaching
a team member
- Complete individual development plans to identify any
individual areas for further development/training both for
themselves and their team members
Approximately 6-8 weeks after Day Two of the workshop, the
participant's team members (direct reports), peers and manager
will receive another questionnaire which they are expected
to complete and return to the trainer. This questionnaire
will identify the level of change in coaching behaviors after
Day Two of the workshop and therefore measure the application
of learning.
Approximately two months after Day Two of the workshop, Day
Three will be facilitated. Participants will be notified of
the requirements for this session at the conclusion of Day
Two.
The objectives for Day 3 of the workshop ensure participants:
1. Address any coaching issues and concerns that have been
uncovered as a result of the implementing the action plans
2. Receive feedback on the results of the skills assessments
3. Understand how to and have the opportunity to practice
handling difficult performance interviews
4. Learn new and interesting ways to reward performance
5. Identify individual areas for further training and development
6. Identify any obstacles which hinder performance and develop
action plans to overcome these obstacles.
Workshop evaluation questionnaires must be completed by
all participants at the end of Day Two and Day Three of the
workshop.
As part of the evaluation process and to support participants
transfer their learning to their working situations, there
will be follow up after Day Three of the workshop. The follow
up will be in the form of a telephone call or one-to-one meeting.
This follow up is intended to support the participants further
develop and enhance their Leadership Coaching skills.
